Joan offers a route to discovering our own creative selves, however difficult we find our lives. She herself has come a hard path; but making songs, writings, images and poetry not only brought her joy and greater ease of spirit, but also knowledge, and courage. Her methods are straightforward to follow, but can bring depth, confidence and awareness to develop your dreams.

Encountering Joan’s beautiful website came along at a very apt time for me. Not that long ago, my own Viva experience had knocked me sideways and since then, I have found myself re-evaluating my long and immersive PhD journey. This in turn has taken a toll on my sense of self and made me question how I want to move forwards, wisely. Joan’s innate ability to share her own vulnerability with such integrity has revealed to me that, in every sense, I am not alone. Joan’s words, songs and images can offer us all invaluable hand-holds. This resonance and encouragement from one to another, across the ether, is sometimes all we need to keep us clambering uphill. It’s essential to share for within this, we grow. It’s part of being human. Thanks Joan!

This is a wonderful use of a website. It is not a closed space, but open and fluid where all things are in process or about to begin.
The concept of education informing the site is truly liberating. Here Joan explores and challenges her own experience and in so doing challenges us as we contemplate her evolving narratives, her poetry and songs, her photographs and all the living fragments of a life-in-the-making. It is the site of a genuine adventure inviting our immediate engagement and reciprocity.

' Joan, I wanted to say a huge thank you for all the time, support and guidance you have given me over the past academic year-and-a half. Your lectures are always interesting and make me think in new directions and I have always enjoyed your teaching. I'm certain I wouldn't have completed the MA anywhere near the level I attained without your patience, help and continued support - especially during my injury'.
